Best of the Battlefords Photo Contest Guidelines and Rules

This contest, brought to you by the City of North Battleford and Battlefords Tourism & Convention Association, is open to amateur and professional photographers. No entry fee is required. One major prize ($100 value) will be awarded in each of four categories:

� Battlefords Vacation (ie: photos of your vacation or scenery)
� Events (ie: BridgeFest, community events)
� Urban Life (ie: local architecture, city and town life)
� Sports and Recreation (ie: hockey, baseball, football, fishing, skiing)

Submitting Entries: Only digital (.jpg or .tiff format) submissions will be accepted. Email your photos to mhalstead@cityofnb.ca. Entries must include the name and address of the photographer, specify the location of each photograph and indicate the category to which you are entering each photograph. By digitally submitting your photographs, you are acknowledging that you have read, understand and abide by all contest rules and regulations. 

Individuals may submit a maximum of three photographs. Each image can be entered into one category only. Multiple entries in one category are permitted up to the entry limit. All photographs must have been taken within the Battlefords and area (50 kilometer radius) prior to the closing date of the contest. While there are no specific timeframe restrictions, photos should not look dated. Electronically manipulated or retouched images are not allowed. In-camera manipulation only is allowed. Some minor manipulation such as cropping is acceptable. 

Eligibility: This contest is intended for participation of United States and Canadian residents (excluding Quebec and where otherwise prohibited by law). Entries from outside of the U.S. and Canada are not eligible. The winner must have reached the age of majority in their province or state of residence.

Contest Dates: Entries must be received no later than midnight on September 4th, 2012.

Judging: Photographs will be juried by a panel of judges. Winning photographs will be selected based on technical skill and photo merit (composition, clarity, creativity, and visual impact) and the ability of the images to capture the essence of the Battlefords and the category theme. Images can reflect any season.  

Rights: Photographic submissions remain the property of the photographer. The City of North Battleford and Battlefords Tourism & Convention Association reserve full usage rights of all entries, without cost, for use in promotional material including website use, advertisements, social media, brochures and guides. The City of North Battleford and Battlefords Tourism & Convention Association reserves the right to showcase all winning photography indefinitely. Sponsor rights shall not include the sale of submitted photographs to other parties or other commercial use.

Photo releases: Winning entrants must be able to supply a signed release for any identifiable person or persons in the photograph or their guardians, if requested. Failure to provide model release if requested, will result in disqualification of the entry.  

Prizes: Prizes are not transferable and must be accepted as awarded with no substitutions, whether in cash or otherwise.   

Announcement of winners: Selection of the winners will be made on or before September 10^th, 2012. The names of prize winners, along with their winning photography, will be published on the City of North Battleford and Battlefords Tourism & Convention Association websites following the announcement of winners. Winning photography may also be featured in the 2013 Official Battlefords Visitor Guide, and may be featured in other media or public events. Prize Release: By entering this contest, participants consent to the use of their names, images, likenesses and photographs of themselves, without compensation, in any publicity carried out in any media by or on behalf of the sponsors. Unless prohibited by law, within 14 days of receipt thereof, the winners may be required to sign and return the photography contest sponsor�s declaration and release form confirming compliance with contest rules and acceptance of prizes, as offered, and acknowledging the non-responsibility of the sponsors, its agents, and the prize suppliers in respect to injuries, accidents and misfortune relating to the contest or the awarding of the prize or the sponsor�s use of the photography.   

Sponsors: This contest is sponsored by the City of North Battleford and Battlefords Tourism & Convention Association. Other sponsors may be brought on at any time.

Contest sponsors are not responsible for any injury, loss or damage of any kind arising out of a participant�s participation in this contest or the acceptance, possession or use of the prize package or the use by sponsors of the photography submitted for this contest.

Entry in the contest is subject to all federal, provincial, state and local laws and regulations. The decisions of the contest organizers are final and binding in all matters related to this contest.
